Annacone Tennis

About

Annacone Tennis is in business because we love tennis. We are not only tennis teaching pros, facility managers and coaches, but we are tennis players. Our goal at Annacone Tennis is to provide world-class service both on and off the court and continue to grow the great game of tennis. Steve Annacone is a USPTA Elite Professional and has been teaching and coaching tennis to players from beginner to professional tour level in the U.S. and Internationally for 40+ years.

I love helping and watching a student become a better player. I enjoy the feeling of bringing a player from their current level towards their goal, whatever that may be.

When I decided to take up tennis again, SMTA was the best option in Knoxville. The many flexible and affordable programs offered for all player levels at SMTA made it possible for me to play and improve my game even in the midst of my busy and unpredictable mommy schedule. At SMTA, I was quickly reminded of why I love tennis so much and how addictive the game is. Knoxville is blessed to have a tennis club whose purpose is clearly to make a great sport available to as many people as possible. Vive la tennis!

While I might have started to play somewhere else, Smoky Mountain Tennis Academy is where I truly learned how to play tennis. Steve Annacone was my coach for basically 10 years and he grew my game exponentially. Not only did he teach me tennis lessons, but he also taught me things about myself and helped me grow as a person. Steve, as well as all of the other SMTA pros, treated me with great respect and put everything they had into the game. To this day, I still call Steve Annacone a friend, and I owe my tennis success to him and his expertise.”

Montauk Downs Tennis is the perfect jewel in the middle of town for those who love to play tennis. I look forward to the long summer season every year and play daily on the beautiful six clay courts surrounded by the nature of Montauk. We are so lucky to have a facility like this where there is always a clinic, a class, a league, or a private lesson taught by some of the greatest instructors Ive ever worked with. Ive spent most of my summer playing at the Downs and I hope to continue and will look forward to it every year!

I grew up at Smoky Mountain Tennis Academy and I learned how to play tennis from Steve Annacone, as well as how to use those lessons in my life outside of the game. Everyone at SMTA has always treated me like family, and that is why I will always consider it home. Many juniors play tennis, but we at Smoky Mountain learned how to play. My time at SMTA enabled me to achieve All American status at the University of Tennessee and also helped me be a successful college coach at Tennessee and Purdue. I owe all of that to Steve and the coaches at SMTA.

My kids love their coaches and work hard to please them. Even when the coaches cannot be near, they are always willing to offer a pep talk before a match or even strategy during a split set break. I cannot truly express my appreciation to the coaches for the impacts they have made in my children’s lives. Steve Annacone and the SMTA staff have helped to create at least 3 really good tennis players...and at least 3 really good kids.”

    Frequently asked questions

I will ask the player if they have specific shots or things that they want to work on. If they are not sure, I go through a basic warm up-mini tennis, forehand and backhand groundstrokes from the baseline, volleys, overhead, serve and return of serve. As we progress through these, I will make simple suggestions to improve technique. If the player is interested in competing better, we will work on some point play situations towards the end of the lesson. I will give them a summary, things to practice, and an idea about what we will do next time.

USPTA Certification of Elite Professional and over 40 years of coaching all ages and levels.
