Learning to play an instrument involves practicing. Wow, what a stupid sounding statement. Practicing is only marginally profitable unless you know “how” to practice. I could tell you right here, in a few words, how to practice and you might say, “ Well, of course, anyone would know that.” The problem is, knowing and doing it two different things. I like to ask a new player, “What are you hoping to song or melody are you hoping to learn to play?” For me, this way of learning an instrument is a lot more fun than playing scales and arpeggios for years, in hopes to someday being able I to play some of the stuff really want. Carol F. says, "Matt is that rare combination of impeccable, world class musician; and infinitely patient instructor. He has taught 5 of my children ages 5-16 and he managed to alter his approach to meet the needs of each (very challenging) student; even meeting the challenge of keeping them fully engaged through quarantine. The two oldest were accepted into the piano program at SCPA thanks to Matt. " Read more

Hi! I’m Noah and I love music. I grew up in metro-Detroit and get to impact our community by teaching music lessons! I've toured the country as a performing musician 10 times, I have a music education degree, and I've been teaching music lessons on a variety of instruments for 10 years. In lessons, I recognize that every student is an individual and needs to be taught in the way that makes the most sense for them. As a result, my students have performed with honors groups like MSBOA All-State Band and the Detroit Symphony's Youth Ensembles. Outside of teaching music lessons, I also run my own recording studio!
