DANCE-Dawn has performed, taught, choreographed in the Bay, Los Angeles, New York, and Costa Rica over the past 20 years. She is experienced in hip hop, house, samba, belly dance, several African derived styles, heels / burlesque, lyrical jazz/jazz funk, fire, salsa, new style hustle, and tahitian. Dawn has been featured in several music videos, commercials, live events, films, and print advertisements for major brands. In Costa Rica, she led her province's group to win the 2nd place in the national Carnaval two years in a row. Dawn also founded and directed a successful entertainment show in 2015, Puerto Viejo Live. Currently, she is the dancer for "The Purple Ones" a Prince Tribute band directed by Prince's former guitarist.
DRUMS- Dawn began her musical training with classical piano at age 6, then transitioned to drums five years later. She grew up playing in her school symphonic bands and jazz bands. At San Francisco State University she continued to study music and concentrated on electronic music production.
After SFSU Dawn continued her musical career in Los Angeles, New York, and Costa Rica. She continued to produce and write music, sing in original and cover bands, as well as play drums in several bands. Some of her favorite performances include the Eagle Rock Music Festival, playing at The Mint LA, The House of Blues Foundation Room, The Grand Star, Oakland’s First Fridays, and Oaktoberfest.
In Costa Rica, Dawn founded/directed a multicultural entertainment show with live music, dance, fire shows, aerialists, and more. Besides directing about 13 performers each week, she also played drums, sang, danced, and choreographed the dance performances in each weekly show.
Two years ago, Dawn returned to the Bay Area. She is currently playing drums with her rock/hiphop band, Mad Fiction. But, connecting people to the therapeutic joy of playing music is one of her great passions.
