Actor Coach Eddie Ruiz
About
There is nothing more exciting to me at this point of my life, especially after working for more than 10 years in many film, TV and theatre professional productions and winning several awards for my work, than to share my knowledge and experience as a professional actor. I have worked alongside many talented people in this buiness such as Tony Plana(3 Amigos), Chris Colfer(Glee), Don Johnson(Miami Vice), Snoop Dogg(Rapper), Jimmy Kimmel(TV Host/Actor), David Castaneda(Umbrella Academy). Networks I have worked with include NBC, WB, Paramount, Fox, Disney and Nickelodeon.
I am an artist born and raised in Boyle Heights, CA. I have a passion for acting, and received my M.F.A. from The Central School of Speech and Drama in London, UK. Being one of twenty students accepted into this prestigious program prepared me to work and teach acting at a high level and convey various techniques to students of all levels. I also have a B.A in acting from Cal State Fullerton & Pomona.
I look forward in helping other actors book the job by creating a safe and professional work space that will allow the students to express themselves emotionally, physically and psychologically as I have mastered the unique psycho-physical technique of acting; a mixture of our greats, Stanislavsky and Checkhov.

I enjoy the process. I enjoy watching and exploring ideas to play with while breaking down a script. I love to learn new things from scripts and the actors. I love building a fun enviroment where auditions feels less like work and more like a sense of self-exploration.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
My work process with each student is very personal and honest. My goal is to help the actor grow as an individual and an actor.
1. I make sure that we are a great fit for each other by talking over the phone and get to know each other a little bit.
2. If we're a fit, we then talk about the scene and how we can make it their own to book the job. We'll work the scene for an hour or so and make sure that the actor is confident in their delivery of the work.
3. I'll follow up to see what worked and what didn't, so we can all learn from our experience.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
M.F.A - Central School of Speech & Drama
- Where Gael Garcia, Karla Souza and Andrew Garfield graduated from.
B.A. University of Fullerton & Pomona.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Every student and job is different, so pricing will be depending on the individuals experience, scene and budget.
1 hours usually equals 1 session. Don't want to over do it.
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching acting friends in the business. I fell in love with the process and the end results were also positive. I love making a difference.
What types of students have you worked with?
I've worked with students of all levels. I've taught from high school up to professional level actors.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I loved guest teaching at the Boyle Heights Tech Center. I got to teach acting to at-risk youth who really opened up and one has recently been nominated Best Actor under my direction in a film at the NBC/Universal Short Cuts Film Festival.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I would say that hiring an acting coach isn't easy because a lot of people in Los Angeles are claim to know the craft. However, me currently working professional in all mediums of acting, having an MFA and now teaching at college levels help me help an actor to elevate his skills as an actor and human being.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
1. What are you currently working on that helps you guide someone in the craft of acting?
2. What do you as an acting coach hope to gain from our experience?
3. Do you like what you do? Why?
