FAQs

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

First I want to make sure we are a match. I ask if they have any goals, what they are looking to achieve, and maybe their timetable for achieving them. I normally spend extra time with every new student, at no additional charge, in order to get to know each other and to get an idea of their ability. I ask if they have any health issues, their over-all knowledge of the game, a favourite player, and who else they know that plays.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I started coaching professionally in 2002. I am a former tennis director for 2 Northern CA clubs, I've been the boys & girls varsity coach for 3 high schools, I'm PTR certified and insured, I'm a former USTA Captain for my mens 4.0 team, I currently play competitive mens doubles and mixed, and I'm a USTA umpire in SoCal. But my most rewarding work is helping to run a non profit that brings youth tennis to underserved communities and affordable programming to public parks.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

I charge at or close to the going rate for a professional lesson in Southern California. However, I do provide significant discounts for packages of 5 & 10 lessons. I bring all the equipment (balls, baskets, and demo racquets upon request) Court fees and travel are not always factored into the cost, but I'm flexible and fair.
