About
Hello!
My name is Luzma Ortiz and I am a professional actress with a passion for coaching and directing.
I have worked professionally as an actor on the stage for over 15 years both in NY and CA as well as on various national tours travelling the US and Canada. I've also worked as an Assistant Director and Director for professional children's theater and college productions on both coasts of the US.
I am a private coach and also teach group workshops where I help students refine their audition and performance materials by developing their natural talents with specific techniques and tools used by profesional actors all over the world.
Some of the things I work on with my students include:
*How to choose and prepare a monologue for auditions
*How to choose and prepare a song for Musical Theater Auditions (including all genres from traditional to Pop/Rock)
*Musical Theater Repertoire (Building your audition book)
*Character development for performance
*And much more...
I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree with Honors in Acting from the University of California, Irvine and a Certificate from the American Music and Dramatic Academy in NYC. Like most professional performers I am always and forever a student continually taking classes myself as I continue to master my own craft and build my own actor's tool box. As I continue to refine my own skills as an actor I am excited to pass on what I learn to my students.
I look forward to meeting you & feel free to visit my website at: https://www.luzmaortiz.com
My favorite thing to experience as a teacher is when my student has a break through or a discovery. It is amazing to watch the process of growth in each individual student at their own pace.
