Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I have a friendly interview with the students to introduce myself and to get to know more about them, their level and their goals. After we know each other and we are comfortable, I assess their language level on grammar, writing, reading and speaking to understand where they are.
After thoroughly assessing their individual situation I prepare a progressive learning plan that includes in person lessons, interesting readings, movies, music, podcasts and interactive and fun tools that allow them to do a total immersion into Spanish.
This method, which I have extensively used before with great results, allows students to quickly achieve amazing results and improve their Spanish like never before.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have taken teaching lessons from various professors and language teachers that have tutored me before. I have also studied extensive material about pedagogy, teaching techniques and learning methods, especially focused on language. I use teaching techniques that the best professors at UC Berkeley use, the Berkeley Method of Learning.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Depending on the student's level, the goals and the workload required I offer teaching packages that include an individual study plan. Each level includes grammar and writing learning resources, speaking lessons, listening and reading resources and weekly reviews to monitor the student's progress and solve doubts.
All from a 360º teaching method that allows total linguistic immersion and guarantees real results.
Basic level lessons cost 40$ an hour, intermediate lessons cost 50$ and advanced lessons cost 65$ an hour. A fair and affordable cost for tailored and individual lessons with a highly succesful teaching method that guarantees real results. Speaking the language like a native doesn't have a price, and since speaking another language is so important for professional and academic development, I also offer bundle discount rates.
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching Spanish as a tutoring side job for extra income. After having increased my student enrollment, I decided to profesionalise my skills and improve my teaching experience and results.
I took teaching lessons and learned from the methods that language and university professors use to teach their students.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have been teaching Spanish for more than 5 years, to many students with different levels and backgrounds. I have taught middle school, high school and university students, business executives for professional purposes and all age students that wanted to speak Spanish as a native.
I have lived in many countries so I have taught Spanish to students whose native language was English, French, Chinese, Indian, Italian, Portuguese, and many more.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I have received 1 of 7 worldwide scholarships to study at the University of California, Berkeley and develop my startup at a startup incubator in San Francisco.
It was an extremely competitive process that I was selected through and offered me a unique opportunity to develop both professionally and personally.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
The most important thing is to have confidence and good understanding with the professor, to be able to understand what the student's necessities are and actively assess them.
The tutor's experience and reviews from past students are important as well, so the student can know the tutor's ability and get real feedback from past students.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What is my goal for learning a language? Where do I struggle the most? How much effort am I willing to put in to learn the language? Am I willing to get a total immersion into the language to see real results?
The goal of these questions is to be able to understand where you are standing as a student and how far you want to go to learn the language, the more effort you put in, the better and faster you'll master the language.
