About

As a teacher, my job is not to teach you the “right way” to act. My job is to show you if how you are acting doesn’t feel right to you - then, that’s not how you are supposed to be acting.

When actors think their job is “to act,” acting itself becomes work. But nobody (not agents, not casting directors, and not audiences) want to see an actor acting. The actor’s job is to “not act.”

When you Quit Acting, the actor quits the ‘job’ of acting. And acting becomes as effortless as you are being right now.

Quit Acting provides a true one-stop-shop for actors and performers when it comes to navigating the creative, business, and mental challenges of this industry. With over 30 years of experience in the entertainment industry (as a talent agent, musical theater director, acting coach and Certified Hypnotherapist) Laura's innovative approach, unique insight, and individualized techniques have helped not only actors, but also singers, musicians, dancers and artists. She works with creatives to release blocks and negative thought patterns, allowing them to reach new levels of creativity and confidence.

When you love what you do - there is no work to it.

Laura is a wonderful and generous coach! She helps you dive into the meat and bones of your character, and sparks revelations that drastically improve your audition performance. She gave me the confidence to make specific choices and nail my pilot season auditions!

It just made sense! Its so thrilling to find out how you are getting in your own way of making a significant impact on your acting. Laura says one simple sentence and immediately points out something that was, for some reason, flying under your radar. Very much looking forward to when I can work with her again.

I started working with Laura about a year and a half ago, and within that time I have been drastically booking more. I blame Laura for that! We work on bringing ME to the character, so that I walk into the audition room with specific choices and a special understanding of what I can bring to the role.
I feel lucky to have come across her as a coach and am always recommending her to folks. She has an amazing ability to work within an actor’s strengths and weaknesses & bring out the best performance!

    Frequently asked questions

Because I teach all actors to work from their natural instincts, the first session for all new clients is a GENERAL session. For this session clients prepare a short scene "audition ready' whatever that means for them. We put it on tape like a normal audition and go through a full critique and coaching session. By the end of this session any actor will know where they are and exactly what they need to do to get to their next level.

I have been working with actors (both in the creative and business aspects of the industry) for over 30 years.

Advice, tools, and techniques are all created to make what you are doing (or wanting to do) easier- so if what a teacher wants you to do isn't making it easier - you are either doing it wrong -and it is the teachers responsibility to find another way to teach you- or that tool or advice isn't meant for you.

As teachers we work for you- make us prove what we are teaching works rather than you sitting in class hoping you can prove to the teacher that you can follow their instructions.

Whatever questions they want answers to. There is no such thing as a dumb question. We ask for help because we honestly don't know. We are here to help not to judge you for not knowing. If you don't ask your questions -a teacher will asume what they have to teach- and then you are wasting a lot of time learning stuff you already know or don't need. Also sometimes that 'dumb question" is genius or it is the one thing that allows everything else to fall into place like dominos. So don't question what questions you should or shouldn't ask.
