Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I require my first session with a student to be at least 90 minutes long. I believe it's important to spend some time getting to know the student, their intrests, and some of their personal and acting goals. After I get a feel for the students goals, we proceed with text to gauge their understanding of language and how it can be manipulated to get what we want. Based on my findings I can reccomend certain scenes and excercises to aid the actor in developing their process.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I studied my undergraduate degree at Southern Methodist University - Meadows School of the Arts, receiving my BFA with a specialization in acting. In addition have recieved extensive text anaylysis, voice, movement, breath from a variety of proffessors across the country.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Typically 40 an hour for coaching and 50 an hour for selftape.
Prices subject to change depending on students needs.
What types of students have you worked with?
I've worked with novice actors beginning their journey (children and adults), all the way up to seasoned actors who've received their MFA.
In the past year some of my clients have booked reccuring roles on networks like: (in no particular order)
HBO, Paramount Networks, Fox, Hulu, Netflix, TVLand, CMT
As well as Theatre work : PCPA
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
You need to be taking class with someone who is directly involved with the buisness in their everyday lives. As technology has sped up growth exponetially, this buisness is also changing quickly, and many teachers are not up to date on current standards.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
- Where do you see yourself in this buisness?
- How serious are you about acting?
- What do you hope to gain from this journey?
- Who could you see yourself being on TV/Film/SocialMedia?
- Why do you want to act?
No right answers. These will help me guage where we should start.
