I really enjoy all aspects of teaching. You could be working on something challenging for a long period of time and then there's that moment when you see the light bulb come on and a student "gets it". It's really satisfying. Keeping the lessons challenging but fun is important and keeps the interest of everyone involved. I like to know what kind of music each of my students are listening to, take their favorite bands or artists and apply what they're learning to that.

Teaching also makes me a better drummer. Having to effectively explain how different patterns work, how they're written, the mental and physical mechanics of how you apply them...it does wonders for your own abilities on the instrument.

Mark has been teaching my teenage son twice a week for about a year.
All I can say it that my son loves the lessons and has become a Very good drummer. I think it’s because Mark knows how to combine his fun, easy-going, patient and kind teaching style with actual formal teaching techniques.
Plus he’s very convenient to the Valley or Hollywood, his prices are reasonable and his drum kit is amazing !

Doesn’t really get any better than Mark. The thing that really sets him aside from others is he is able to tailor the lessons to what the student needs at that time. All while keeping it fun and interesting and helping the student get better at techniques and general knowledge of the instrument. If want to take lessons for whatever reason at any level, this is the guy!
