What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I've been teaching West Coast Swing and wedding dances right here in Ventura for over 20 years. As a competitor, I've trained personally with top names in the West Coast Swing international community (Jordan and Tatiana, Ben Morris , Deborah Szekely and Robert Cordoba, and more). If you are a new dancer, of course these names don't mean much, but youtube them and you'll be blown away!
I am certifed as a dance competition judge by the National Dance Dynamic Certification Board and the Global Professional Dance Instructor Association (GPDIA), I am also a certified GPDIA instructor.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Standard pricing:
$79 per 55 minute private lesson (individual or a couple)
$355 for a package of 5 private lessons.
Group Classes:
$15 for one-night drop-in
$75 for 6-week session
$67 for 6-week session when paid at least a week in advance.
How did you get started teaching?
I took up West Coast Swing dancing and it became my passion. After several years of study and competition, my former teacher quit teaching the local classes, and helped train me to take his place. I've never looked back. Just about nothing is as satisfying as teaching dance class.
What types of students have you worked with?
My students are adults from all walks of life and experience. Most of my students have little or no dance background when they walk in the door, but as any dance teacher will tell you, if you can walk, you can dance!
I have had a lot of wedding dance students who are just nervous, and need a little confidence before their big day.
