What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I will customize the lessons to meet your needs . We will discuss your goals that you want to appcomplish and go from there .
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Bachelors in Theatre , Masters degree in psychology . 20 plus years of acting and directing experience primarily in theatre but I have done some film . Additional training in voice , Shakespearean acting , and improv.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Typically I charge 60 dollars an hour . However I am willing to negotiate and discuss pricing . I am also open to working with students to find payment method that works best for them weekly , monthly etc.
How did you get started teaching?
I began teaching acting out of college in 1997 and worked with various high school theatre programs. I was the Theatre teacher at Webb Boarding School in Claremont, and worked with Middle School students in Lapuente Unified School District. I have also also worked with college and professional actors.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with a large variety of students of all ages and backgrounds. The youngest being 3 and the oldest 60 !
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
My favorite moments in the artistic process are happy mishaps or mistakes . I use improv a lot when working with students and find that if we really allow the exploratory process to happen that’s when the most interesting outcomes surface !
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Ask as many questions as you want ! Acting is a very vulnerable art form and you need to feel safe and completely comfortable with the teacher . There are no bad or wrong questions!
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
I encourage students to really do some soul searching about what they are trying to achieve. The more clear they are about what they are looking for the greater the likelihood of finding the right coach .
