Hi! My name is Alyssa Grijalva, I am a PTR certifited Tennis Coach. I have been playing tennis for over 16 years and played D1 for Colorado State University. I have also been coaching for around 7 years. I enjoy hitting with players and developing players.
My favorite part about working as a tennis coach is watching the development of the players I work with. I enjoy working with every age group and all different types of levels.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When working with a new student I will focus on the basics such as grips, stance and developing their groundstrokes. As we progress through lessons I start adding movement with their groundstroke. When player gets more advanced I start implenting live play and hitting in with the player.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been certified as a tennis coach and have worked amazing coaches throughout my tennis career and coaching career. Have gained so much knowledge regarding coaching and I have enjoyed coaching players and growing with them.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Yes, for a hitting session which just includes hitting with a player that is 35$/hr. As for a private which includes coaching and feeding balls it is 65$/hr.
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching because I enjoy tennis and working with all types of players. My dad was my coach so learning from him and other coaches made me realize the impact they had on me. Ever since I was 7 I knew I wanted to be a coach. Now I am living that dream and I truly love it.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with children ages 4-18 years old and Adults. I've worked with All levels including beginners, intermediate and advanced.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I am very fond of my recent coaching job. I had so many players who I truly enjoyed working with and who were top players in Arizona. I had to move back to California but am looking forward to working with players near my area.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I would recommend making sure they enjoy the training.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
I would recommend letting coaches know their goals and what they want to accomplish.
