I've been playing Drums since I was 7 years old and started taking Drum lessons with Larry Shultz. currently I take lessons with Micheal Rogers local Funk & Blues Professional Drummer. I've 33 years experience playing Drumset & Congas. I've been in a variety of original and Cover Bands that play at variety of venues and special events in East Bay, CA. Currently I'm the Drummer & Promoter for Red Velvet Cover Band & Quartet. I'm experienced in all Essential styles of Drumming & rudiments. I have a Bachelors Degree In Music at Sonoma State University & was featured in the Jazz Fusion Band My Senior year.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Talk to the Student by phone and find out what goals that have for Drumming. For example, do you want to learn Essential Grooves, rudiments, and songs to use in a Cover Band or school band? Are you best at learning with visual or auditory methods? I offer basic rudiments and fundamental Rock, Funk, Shuffle Grooves.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I've 33 years of Drum lessons in all fundamental styles such as Rock, Funk, Blues, R&B, Reggae, Jazz, & World music. I've a Bachelors Degree in performing Arts from Sonoma State University. I was in Symphonic & Jazz Band from Elementary school-College. I was in a few Jazz Quartets after College. Currently I'm the Drummer & leader of Red Velvet Cover Band & Quartet.

It's $70 an hour and $40 for a half hour
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching Drum lessons after I graduated from NorthGate High School. My senior project was about how to Teach Drum lessons and I worked with Middle School music students at Foot Hill Middle School In Walnut Creek, CA.
What types of students have you worked with?
I've worked with Elementary-Highschool Music students and some Adults.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I suggest you look for a Teacher that has many years of experience. Also, a teacher who is easy going and is open to teach students of skill level from beginning to advanced.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What is your goals with Drumming? Do you want to do this as a hobby or professionally? Do you want to play in a Band?
