Coach Marty is great. My son is taking group and individual tennis classes with him. He is extremely patient and takes the time to teach each of them the fundamentals. When in one-on-one sessions he is able to work with my son on areas where he has opportunities. Coach Marty is communicative with us one what we should work with and doesn’t provide pressure. So much so that my son loves playing and learning about tennis. I would highly recommend him as a coach!

Martin is one of the best coaches I’ve ever seen—he’s professional, courteous, punctual, funny, and personable. My 7-year old son loves his tennis lessons. I wish I had a coach like Martin when I was a kid!

The most important thing is my daughter had fun going to her tennis lesson with Martin. She liked his humor, but really found his tips to be very helpful. During the drills, he would mention the tip and she would try to repeat it. I could see the difference. My daughter made the varsity h.s. team and I think Martin helped make that happen. I highly recommend Martin.

Martin is such a great coach—encouraging but not patronizing. His technical insights are spot on and have been helping me correct decades old habits that have dramatically improved my strokes.

I played a lot of tennis in high school but haven’t much since (it’s been almost 20 years since then). When I met Martin, I was inspired to dust off the cobwebs and take it up again. I’m so glad I did. Martin runs a great lesson. A good balance of technique and cardio. Within just the first class, I felt myself reconnect with the sport, correct some footing, and strengthen my strokes. I’m excited to take more lessons and continue to grow and improve. Definitely recommend!

    Frequently asked questions

Go through the basic grips, prep position and swing path.

Hand feed to get a feel for the stroke and ball contact.

    Then.....footwork...footwork and footwork.

If you can't get to the ball balanced then it doesn't matter how well you can strike the ball.

I've always taught since college but got more involved when I started teaching and coaching my son.

I work with all ages and levels.

Besides the adults that want to sharpen their skills for usta league competition, I have a kids group (age 6+) and also develop high school/usta rank junior players (boys and girls).

I have a group of friends (dads and their daughters that play tennis) and we get together on Sundays and have the girls go through drills and play points.  The dads help  collect the balls while they enjoy seeing their daughters work on their game.  We have a great time and everyone looks forward to the gathering.

First of all, they need to be knowledgeable.  Played at a high level is important, that goes hand in hand with being knowledgeable.

Why are they interested in taking lessons?

    What is their goal?

How much are they willing to work to develop their game?
