Belinda Reynolds Music
About
I “customize” my teaching to each individual, which helps the student take ownership of their compositional “life” so they can realize their goals in a positive, exciting way.
I love teaching - other than composing it is the passion of my life. It is so satisfying to help composers, regardless of their level, reach their potential.

Belinda is a fantastic teacher and mentor! She was a wonderful way of fostering creativity in her students and allowing everyone to discover their inner musician.

Belinda is an absolutely amazing composition teacher. I studied with her for many years, and she is the reason I was accepted into a Masters program for composition.
Shes incredibly supportive, patient, and (unlike many composition teachers) non-judgmental. She will never try to write your piece for you, but rather has a wonderful talent for helping you craft your piece in your own voice. I always left the lesson inspired and excited to write more music.
Shes also great with younger students, and has fun ideas of how to incorporate creative compositional ideas into her lessons, whether they be for theory, composition, or piano.
Highly recommend!

Belinda Reynolds perfect pitch extends far beyond mastery of the notes themselves, and into the vast realm of possibility that is understanding students intuitively, deeply and compassionately...all so that they can be gently, productively guided toward telling their own musical narratives! To Belinda, even the most humble and novice student has a musical story to tell -- and it is her job, as mentor/cartographer/rabbi/first audience/etc. -- to help tease out that story, in the most compelling way possible. In our familys long experience with Belinda and two child/teen students, we have seen that Belinda honors her composition apprentices (young and mature, novice and expert) with her full attention and a true sense of possibility. This profound, joyful belief in her students potential to make and share their music and their stories is a rare gift: Still now, years after my son shifted his attention to other instruments and passions, he pens original material with Belindas precise voice guiding him: her fine ear, aptitude, lofty standards and, most of all, *joy* in students highly individual interpretations of life and music. Years later, he still sends Belinda compositions for her input; he will never regard her as anything but his first, most influential and empowering, teacher. In her singular approach, Belinda offers composition students a unique gift to take with them, in their musical life and beyond: the confidence, legitimacy and sense of adventure that drives all true artists through the valleys and up the hills of a creative life.
