Gavin Leon is originally from Sydney, Australia and grew up playing competitive tennis since the age of 11. As a junior player, he was ranked #1 for Australian High Schools and obtained an international ranking. Through the encouragement of his coaches, Gavin decided to pursue college tennis in the USA. He had offers from all over the map. With all things considered, Gavin and his family decided the best fit was for him was to move to the small town of Moraga and continue his tennis and education at the NCAA Division 1 institution, Saint Mary’s College. At Saint Mary’s, Gavin played in all facets of the line up. Playing #1 doubles and anywhere from #1-6 singles, he achieved awards such as WCC All Academic Conference Team and WCC All Conference First teams. During his stellar junior year Gavin remained undefeated in singles and doubles at home. In recent years Gavin completed his Master’s Degree in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Sport Management and High Level Coaching at Saint Mary’s. Gavin is joining the Racquet Club of Irvine as the Head Pro after spending the last two years as an assistant coach for the Saint Mary’s Men’s Tennis and working full time as a tennis professional at Moraga Country Club. Gavin is a certified USPTA tennis teaching professional and a Certified Cardio Tennis Provider. Gavin is currently teaching private lessons, group lessons, cardio tennis programs, express doubles clinics and other specialized clinics here at the Racquet Club of Irvine.
