About
On Deck Dance is a boutique studio committed to provide quality dance education. We strive to instill confidence, discipline and artistic individuality in each and every student to ultimately facilitate students to reach their future ambitions. I, Gabriella McCarthy created On Deck Dance with a simple vision and proven concept for success. I am an Orange County native, with over 17 years of teaching/choreographing experience. I am an award winning, sought after teacher/choreographer with a proven track record of success. I have worked with students from beginners to advance in a multiplicity of facets including but not limited to; competition choreography, talent shows, music videos, audition preparations, and college applications. My ultimate goal when working with each and every student is identify what teaching method works best and to equip them with the proper dance education to set them up for success.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
All new students are welcomed with open arms. I make it a point to read the body language of a student to ensure he or she is comfortable. I do my best to affrim the student that there is need to be nervous or fearful and that I am there only to help them reach thier desired dance goals. Next, I ask the student a few questions regarding their experience prior to dancing just to gain insight on how he or she might respond to movement. I use the first private to evaluate the student and determine what level he or she is and adjust movement and technique according. Based on my evaluation of the student and their desired ambitions I devlop a plan.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I graduated from CALIFORNIA STATE UNIVERSITY-FULLERTON Fullerton, CA with a Bachelor of Arts, Major in Liberal Arts, Minor Dance.
I have trained in the following styles; Jazz, Ballet, Contemporary, Jazz/Funk, Heels, Hip Hop, Acro, Voice, Acting, Flamenco, Afro Caribbean, Ballroom

How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching at the age of fifteen. I was a talented student and one of my mentors decided to take me under her wing and educate me on teaching and from their I started teaching my own classes.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with all types of students. I've worked with males/females from the ages of 2-18yr. I've worked with students at every level Beginning-Advance. I've worked with students with learning disablities.
