About
I don't only coach basketball; I help build self-esteem. I help people leave their screens and go outside and raise their heartrate. I help with short and long-term health benefits. I help build grit as sports provide numerous opportunities to learn from failure. I help build face to face communication skills and assertiveness.
These are the many reasons I love coaching basketball.
I played three years in middle school and two years in high school, but that provided the foundation I needed to improve and acquire skills for the next 25 years.
I have taught 17 years of HS science, 3 years of being a tennis coach and 4 years of being a girls basketball coach. For two years I coached a Frosh girls BB team that forced me to re-examine how I learned to move my body for the sport. I learned how to properly teach someone completely new to the sport to progressively learn how to shoot, dribble, pass, and finish layups.
I have provided lessons for high school students, middle school, elementary and beginners in their 20's. My experience with young beginners has honed my skills in assessing what is mechanically diffifcult for the student and what exercises will help them. I have drills at the ready and ones I make up on the spot to address the needs of that particular student. Everyone needs to practice walking before jogging before running.
Try one lesson, watch for yourself, and you will see how great of an investment are my lessons.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
The first lesson is usually asses the student's ability to do right and left handed lay-ups. Then observe the extent of their dribbling abilities, and finally end with their shooting form.
I work with students brand new to basketball or sports in general, intermediate levels and I can help advanced players.
Beginners, for example:
1) How to hold the ball in one hand, proper finger positions, wrist and elbow movements for dribbling and passing.
2) How to shoot, finger and hand positions, knees and torso bending, synchronizing the strainghtening of the body during the arm stroke of a shot.
3) Agility ladder exercises to teach foot dexterity.
4) How to pivot with the ball so as not to travel and protect the ball while the player keeps their eyes on their teammates.
Advanced, for example:
1) reverse pivot fade away shot with three options: the immediate shot, or a fake and pivot layup (up and under) or shot fake into shoulder contact into a shot.
2) Through the legs dribble cross R-L hand into two options: three steps into a L hand layup or R foot step back shot based on a fake layup drive.
3) Cross stepping layups (Euro Step)
