i primarily use Uta Hagen
How did you get started teaching?
I began teaching when my son was born 22 years ago.
What types of students have you worked with?
i have worked extensively with children, youth teens and adults. I am especially skilled at allowing people to connect to their individual artistic process.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
My most favorite event to date is the EXTRAVAGANZA where students from the past 15 years returned to do a showcase of scenes and numbers from the past 15 years. It was magnificent and created connections for people nationwide and worldwide.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Ask yourself what you are looking for:
1. Are you looking for a workshop to continue honing skills?
2. Are you looking for classes to create a skills base from which to grow?
3. Are you looking for classes to increase your comfort and confidence speaking in front of people?
4. Are you looking for classes to allow yourself to express emotionally and creatively?
5. If you want to be an overnight star, this is not the class for you. If you want to grow as an artist and a person, welcome. Yes, you will learn to be a good actor too.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Have a short interview or take a series of intro classes to find out if you resonate to the teacher. No class will determine your success, you will do that. You will grow most authentically if you know what you want and are in an environment you resonate with.
