About

I love to guide students to make their own discoveries about characters they portray and the details of the scene. I help students understand resources available and technical requirements that need to be met for auditioning. I help students find ways to deal with anxiety and nerves. We will also sometimes do warm-up and improv exercises.

I have studied acting, voice acting and improv at Film Acting Bay Area, Voicetrax, The Second City, plus taken workshops with various instructors, casting professionals, and acting instructors in the SF Bay and Los Angeles.

I began teaching in 2019 and love it. Most of my students thus far are beginners and some have transitioned to actively auditioning. However studying acting purely as a hobby, I find, is also a worthwhile endeavor for those that want to have a fun, creative outlet.

Frequently asked questions

I like to have a brief discussion with each student about their goal for their time spent with me and why they are interested learning. I can design exercises around their interests. I will assign homework if they are open to more practice between lessons, but it is not required. I am also happy to refer students to other learning resources, as needed. I am currently offering only online lessons.

I have studied film acting, voice acting and improv. I have booked commercial, industrial and short and feature length film and television work on camera. I have narrated documentaries and industrials.

I offer a free 15-minute consultation/meeting so we can get to know each other a bit, ask questions, and help us decide if we should work together on your on-camera or voice acting goals.

My standard rate is $75/hour or $60/45-minutes for a private lesson. I would be happy to quote small group lessons if interested.

I was invited to teach at a film and media school, after I had completed several on-camera projects for the school. I have always provided my own curriculum and I enjoy customizing lessons to match student's goals.

Almost all of my students started as beginners. Some audition and some continue lessons as a fun hobby.

One of my favorite memories of teaching was Karaoke Day at the film school. I used the opportunity to help the students to each create a character they would portray while singing their chosen karaoke tune, based on an exercise a teaching colleague of mine employed with her students. The exercise helped my students get over their nervousness about singing in public and also yielded some moving performances.

Find an instructor that you feel at ease with. Work with an instructor that is genuinely interested in helping you meet your goals and may even suggest some goals you hadn't thought of. Expect your instructor to provide you with resources to expand and grow, even suggesting other learning opportunties, particularly if you are pursuing on-camera or voice acting as a full- or part-time career.

Here are some questions to ask yourself:

Are you looking to be a working (paid) actor, pursuing acting as a hobby, or not sure yet?

Do you have some experience or are you starting as a beginner?

Have you thought about the time you have available to study, audition, and work in the acting industry?
