3 O'Clock Rock
About
3 O’Clock Rock is a youth-focused music program based in downtown Oakland, California, located at 1305 Franklin St., Suite 102, one block from the 12th Street BART station. The program helps students start bands, play shows, make records, and go on tour, with year-round enrollment. It operates at schools in Oakland, Berkeley, Alameda, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Portland, Oregon, and offers additional classes and private lessons at studio locations in Oakland and San Francisco.
Offerings include band classes, one-on-one instruction, summer camps and summer tours, team-building sessions, and regular opportunities to write, record, and perform original music. Students learn instruments, collaborate with peers in bands, and gain stage experience at real venues. The program welcomes families at performances and supports beginners through advanced players.
3 O’Clock Rock is led by Program Director Billy Ribak and has been featured on KTVU. The focus is on practical musicianship, ensemble playing, songwriting, and recording, giving students clear pathways from first lessons to live shows and studio projects.
