****now also offering online lessons at a discounted rate*** Hi, I’m Lucia. I just recently moved to Oakland from New York. I have been enjoying teaching violin and viola for the past 10 years and worked successfully with students of all ages and all levels- from complete beginners to music majors at the university level. My teaching philosophy: I like to make sure that my students have strong fundamental skills (reading music, healthy and efficient violin technique, good practice habits, basic theory- always depending on the level). I find that this gives us a strong basis to realize the musical and expressive aspects of the music. It

In addition to providing thorough instruction on a traditional method on the violin/viola, I also teach them theory by having the student bring home a music workbook to study and complete to supplement their lesson in order for them to learn and understand their lesson.
I have been privately teaching for about 4 years, I have also been a practice teacher where I meet with the student a couple times a week to help them practice and to give useful feedback. I have taught different age groups and can adapt to what your child or what you would need. I graduated from Cleveland Institute of Music studying with David Updegraff and Joel Smirnoff (2015) for my Bachelors and with Ian Swensen at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music for my Masters (2017).

Hi,
My name is Ashkan. I love music and performing, and have been playing violin since I was 8 years old.
Some highlights of my experience include that I was one of the youngest members of the Iran International Syphony at age 13 for 2 years before attending an international boarding school in Malaysia. There, I taught over 40 students of varying ages and skill levels. In California, I've performed with the De Anza Chamber Orchestra. It's been an honor to study with multiple orchestras and great musicians, and I hope to spread the knowledge I've learned.
I am offering violin lessons along with music theory, as they absolutely goes hand to han

We know that music is in the heart of every thriving community. We teach because that “ah ha” moment, the moment when a light shines in a student’s eyes, is the most satisfying moment of our day. We choose this work because we love to speak through music and to share the power of expressing what words alone cannot communicate. We share ourselves and our stories in our music because in doing so, we create a haven where musicians and music lovers alike come to share in the joy of sound. I was raised by two professionally performing musicians and took many lessons from several teachers throughout my life, starting at a very young age. The real treasure of my experience was being able to play with my parents as well as many other incredible musicians. These experiences taught me a lot about what is expected out of performers, regardless of where you are playing, be it in an orchestra, band, solo, or as a recording artist. My mother taught violin for the entirety of my life at home; This is invaluable for someone who also wants to teach. Music training is among the greatest workouts for the brain and body bar none. I'm a passionate musician since I was 6 years old, I used to play at the Symphony Orchestra for many years, but then I discovered Jazz, and the act of improvising my music and composing melodic lines "live" is a feelling that just made me fall in love with this art.
Also I have dedicated a great part of my career to teaching. I have a great love for sharing knowledge about music and life in general.
I guess the best way for a musician to list his qualifications is to hear him playing so you can hear me on this link https://www.soundslice.com/slices/ptMVc/
