PRIVATE ACTING AND AUDITION COACHING with DIANE AYALA GOLDNER
My focus is on both the aesthetics of being a great film actor, and the teqhnical challenges particular to working in front of a camera. I believe one learns by doing. Through on camera scene work and film exercises such as matching and hitting your marks I will familiarize you with what you will need to know on a film set to be prepared and therefore confident.
Diane Ayala Goldner is an actor, and dancer. She grew up in East LA and came of age with the great punk artists of the Lower East Side in the '80s. Her work has been seen in numerous avant-garde theatrical productions, including Ingmar Bergman's "The Day Ends Early", which she performed at Bergman-Fest in Sweden. Diane is well known for Project Greenlight 3 and as the Biker Queen in the cult classic Feast movies, other credits include: The Collector, Halloween II, Children of the Corn: Runaway, The Shield, and the multilingual queer+ television series Miguel. She has been working for over a decade as the producer of the life-changing, renegade, Gulager guerrilla film acting workshop. Her training includes, Tai Chi, Modern Dance, Belly dancing, Yoga, Massage and other physical modalities.
I have taken eight of Mr. Gulager's workshops and the experience has been incredible. Acting was something I had always wanted to pursue but I was too insecure. Mr. Gulager and his family changed all of that. Not only have I grown as an actor, but the skills I have acquired have given me a newfound confidence in other areas of my life. Mr. Gulager is a wealth of knowledge and is generous with imparting that to his students. I am so glad I found this workshop!
There's nothing like this class. If I had known about it twenty years ago, it would have made the difference for me when I made that decision then to stop pursuing my dream of acting. I've been taking this workshop for three and a half years now. Clu is an amazing teacher. He is attentive with each student, giving generously of his time to examine the student's choices. With his keen intuition and incredible understanding of psyche, he is able to help the student discover appropriate characteristics, moods and behaviors for a certain character. No matter how prepared I think I am before class, Clu always helps me to find additional texture for my character which lends to a more enhanced performance. While viewing the day's scenes, which are nicely covered and beautifully shot by John Gulager, Clu's invaluable coaching continues and is complimented by the insightful observations and useful advice of his assistant coach, Diane Goldner. I recommend this class to ANY level of actor.
