Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First and foremost I want to understand what the students goals are and help them create a plan or process for us to achieve those goals. Whether its competition, fitness, or enjoyment, every ambition has it's own value and one is not greater than the other. From there, we decide schedules and other details based on the limitations both on myself and the student.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been teaching for 3 years in social dance, was the president and coach of the SJSU Dancesport team for over 5 years, and also have worked as a competition vendor for 3 years. I have much experience in all aspects of ballroom dance and have been competing consistently for over 9 years.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
For the pricing of my lessons and for other instructors from my studio, call me or the front desk staff at 925-201-1956
How did you get started teaching?
I was President of my local collegiate Ballroom Dancing Team and to help our team fundraise and save on coaching costs I spent years working on my skills in teaching and put my own personal funds into taking lessons that would help me become a better instructor.
What types of students have you worked with?
All ages of all different wakes of life.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I am particularly fond of the USA Dance Nationals in Baltimore and the Us National Amateur Dancesport Championships in Provo.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Go with an instructor whose style of relaying information works well with you. Don't pick a teacher based on rankings or titles. A teacher who can teach effectively is what you want to strive for.
