Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to find out what they need and then try my best to fulfill it. I start the process slow and simple then ramp things up as we go.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a bachelor of performing arts degree. I'm also a certified member of Dance Masters & Dance Educators of America.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I base my prices on the students or client's budget and the task at hand.
How did you get started teaching?
I started out as a performer (Dancer-Singer-Actor). Yet, I believe using those talents were the prep work I needed to later transition into becoming a teacher and choreographer.
What types of students have you worked with?
I work with all types of students whether they be professional, amateur/newbies, or someone looking to use dance as a vehicle to obtain better fitness and health.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I recently created my first online dance challenge course entitled, "Go from Zero to Dance Routine Challenge Hero!" It's an easy to follow, fun, sexy, and personal development experience for those looking to find their life's rhythm. "Move Better-Live Better!" For more go to my website: www.joeyldowdy.com
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I think you should look for someone with experience, and who doesn't mind rolling up their sleeves to put in the work to help you reach your goal.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Just be clear about what you want or be open to what the instructor might suggest if you're not sure. Then jump in and go full steam ahead! :)
