About
My name is Lelia and I have completed my university training in drumset and education. I have been teaching percussion to all ages for over 5 years now. As someone who took private lessons for a long time I know how important it is to take your interests into account. All my students have met/are reaching their goals and one of my students even made it on America's Got Talent! This is my number one passion and there is nothing better to me than when a student has that "aha" moment on somethinf they have been practicing.
My students will have up to 4 (optional) recitals per year. I coordinate then myself and they are always really fun! This helps students have something to work towards and a place to show their progress to family and friends.
I can do in-home lessons to make lessons as convenient as possible. And with no big business middleman my prices are far lower than competitors. Feel free to reach out with any questions:)

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First I assess where the new student is in their learning process and then I survey what their goals are. Using this information I create lesson plans that fit the students needs.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
-5 years of University training
-Over 5 years of experience
-10 years of being a drum student myself: this helps me tremendously because I know how important it is to understand that each student is different and should be taught accordingly
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I am willing to work with your specific budget and can be paid lesson to lesson or month to month. I also have a referral program, so if you refer a new student to me you will both get a lesson for half off! I also do discounts for multiple family members.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have had a very wide variety of students:
The youngest student I have had was 4 when we started and the oldest student I have had was 65 when we started. I have had students who never held a drumstick before and students who had already had training elsewhere.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Make sure that you are getting your money's worth and that the instructor is actually taking you/your student's goals into account. A lot of instructor's just use their same old curriculum and do no tailoring for the specific student. Another thing to look out for is if an instructor can actually teach theory/music reading or not (many instructors do not provide this service). I have had my fair share of bad instructor's and know it is very frustrating.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Know your long and short term goals
Have an idea of what your budget is and how you would like to play
Would you like you/your student to perform?
Would you/your student like to learn theory?
