Drum And Bass Lessons

Hi there!

My name is Riley Matthews, I'm a 28 year old drummer and bassist based in San Bernardino, CA. I have a Diploma and Higher Diploma in Music Performance, on both bass and drum kit. I started teaching at 15 in high school, as a teacher's assistant, mentoring the junior jazz band, composition classes, and teaching bass and drum kit to high school students as part of their curriculum.

I'm happy to offer 1-on-1 lessons for students looking to learn or expand their knowledge of drum kit, bass guitar, or music theory. Lessons are help at the student's residence. Drum lessons can be held at a local music complex.

According to the needs of the student, my approach to instrumental teaching is focused around the following:

-Working on technical proficiency and comfort while playing: Looking at hand and foot technique to avoid injury, and maximize proficiency on the instrument

-Stylistic repertoire: Learning grooves and playing along to a variety of genres such as Pop, Rock, Latin, Funk, Metal and Jazz

-Reading: Working with students on sight reading for drums and bass guitar, working with everything from basic concepts to advanced exercises to encourage growth

-Creative growth: Ensuring that students find their own voice on the instrument, allowing them to improvise and play with a band

I'm also comfortable working towards exam requirements for instruments, or theory. I

No previous experience required, no age limit.
