About
I've been a student of music my whole life, starting at five years old. I have broad experience performing with a variety of ensembles, from church drumming and pit percussion, to marching in DCI and performances with local groups including the San Francisco Symphony's Sound Box, the Prometheus Symphony, San Francisco Philharmonic, and SF Jazz.
His professional experience encompasses many styles and settings, including Drum Corps International with a top ten corps, jazz bands, musical theatres, and concerto soloist.
Trent was awarded his Bachelor of Music in Instrumental Performance from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, studying with 30+ year San Francisco Symphony principal percussionist Jack Van Geem, and capping over twenty five years of instruction, performance, and teaching.
I love music, and I live for my students "ah ha!" moments! I work well with people of all ages, and my goal with every student is to show how fun and fulfilling music can be. Let's work together to find out what your goals are and make them a reality!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Simply put, we first discuss goals, then assess your skill level, find the optimal material to study, and finally work towards your goals week to week!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been taking private lessons or performing as a professional musician for over 20 years. I earned my BM in Percussion Performance from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music Spring '16. Currently, I play drums for local churchs weekly, percussion in pits for musicals, provide piano lessons to a healthy studio, and occasionally perform with larger ensembles.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I offer a free, thirty minute, in-home studio lesson/assessment, for those looking for the right fit. My teaching rates typically start at $50/30min, $65/45min, or $80/1hr. These rates are open for discussion; if you could really use a lower rate for a great teacher, reach out and we'ss see what we can work out.
I have a 24 hour lesson cancellation policy. If you cannot make a planned lesson, we must tell me at least 24 hours in advance or the you will be charged for 50% of the lesson. I hold myself to the same professional standard; if I cancel less than 24 hours away from our lesson, I reduce the cost of your next lesson by 50%. In the case of sickness or scheduling conflict on short notice (less than 24hrs), most students find rescheduling the lesson for a different time during the week usually works best.
What types of students have you worked with?
I'm grateful to have worked with students of all ages and backgrounds, from retired adults to children as young as six.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Remember, you get out what you put in, so come prepared to work and find a teacher you enjoy working with!
