About this pro

I provide online lessons for travelers and professionals, always tailored to your specific goals and availability. With my help you'll be able to have fluent conversations in spanish. Among my most recent experiences, I'm currently helping some professionals to improve spanish for their work trips, and I'd love helping you too. References can be provided. I'm from Spain, graduated in communications and specialized in Spanish for foreigners. I have 7 years of experience teaching students in an effective and enjoyable way, and I've lived in Latin America for 4 years, so I have a good knowledge of the different Spanish dialects. The classes are provided via Skype, and the first one is a trial, so you don't have to pay for it. If you are looking for a dynamic and useful way of learning Spanish don't hesitate to contact me:

My experience with Borja has been fantastic. Not only has he taught me a great deal of conversational Spanish but he is inspiring with his innovative teaching methods. I will continue to learn from what Borja and First Hand Spanish have to offer.

I have been taking classes with Borja twice a week for all most a year. I had not taken Spanish since high school. I had the desire to learn something new that I could use when traveling. It has been an amazing experience and I have learned a great deal. Borja teaches using an engaging multimedia experience and he makes learning fun. He is very passionate and enthusiastic which makes learning fun. Highly recommended!

Working with First Hand Spanish has been great! The lessons are practical and easily applied to everyday life. Borja is very professional, yet keeps the sessions light. you will pick up on things quickly with Borja's guidance. I am a supervisor at a small assembly plant. The majority of the workforce is Spanish speaking so I needed to learn Spanish in order to communicate with my coworkers. My wife is a paralegal and being bilingual is a huge benefit to the attorneys she works for. My daughter is in her 3rd year of high school Spanish and Borja has helped her get much better grades in class. We are all very happy with First Hand Spanish.

Borja is great! The lessons are taught in an engaging and enjoyable way. I started speaking in class almost immediately, and always look forward to what I will learn next. He is patient, organized, and flexible with scheduling. Highly recommended!

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

I always offer a trial lesson to allow the student to know my methodology. It is also an opportunity for us to get to know each other, and understand better his/her goals and motivations. After that lesson I evaluate the current level of the student and create a program tailored to his/her needs.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I graduated in journalism and studied a master’s degree in International Cooperation with the intention of launching myself to know the world. After receiving my ELE certification as a Spanish teacher, I kept improving my training to offer the best possible experience.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

How did you get started teaching?

After receiving my ELE certification as a Spanish teacher, I kept improving my training to offer the best possible experience. My methodology is practice oriented, and is always tailored to the needs of each student. It doesn’t matter if it’s your first contact with the language or if you are looking to improve your fluency, you can speak Spanish from day one. I also know Spanish well in each region, so we will focus on the country that interests you. I have developed a unique system based on sign language to help you understand the basics of Spanish in a simple way. I also apply it to reinforce grammar at more advanced levels. Best of all, you do not even need materials … just your hands!

What types of students have you worked with?

I have worked with students of all ages and all levels. Over time I have specialized in travelers and professionals who want to improve their Spanish to grow professionally.

Describe a recent event you are fond of.

This year I have decided to create new free materials in Spanish every day. Sometimes it's hard to keep up, but the answers I get from my students encourage me to keep going.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

Learning a language is a long process that involves effort and patience. That's why it's so important to choose well who will accompany you along that path. Always choose a tutor who is able to understand your goals, adapt to your needs and above all, someone who enjoys teaching.

What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?

Does this tutor respond to my learning needs? Is he/she flexible? Does he offer materials? What is his/her methodology?
