I have left a business career to become a tennis instructor after following a friend into his passion, writing. I am certified as master teacher teaching from 10 and under to high performance coaching. I have a 30 years as a tennis director and am passionate about teaching. I am recognized as one of the top coaches in Northern California

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I provide an initial lesson with a detailed or written assessment/evaluation with recommendations. This includes other tennis providers including private and public tennis programs and instructors.
Often my rates are relatively high, however, as a tennis director I conduct tournaments, clinic, playing opportunities that many instructor do not include.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am certifiend tennis instructor, USPTR, with certification in junior and high performance coaching. I am tennis director for a number of tennis facilities over 30 years, own and operated tennis schools and retail facilities.
Simply an old man with lots of experience in the field of retail, tennis instruction and programming. One of my goals is to rebuild the 10 public courts in Golden Gate Park, free matching service for adult and junior players at no charge.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I am in the mid range of pricing as my facilities charge little rental fees and and I am below many of my peers with the same experience as I simply love teaching tennis to everyone from childrent to advanced players.
My rates outside private clubs is always the highest as many public pros are excellent teachers and rarely certified with continuing education.
How did you get started teaching?
I am a terrible athlete with some debilitating injuries, I limped until I was 32 years old.
I started by assisting many of my former teachers, Tony Traber, Weston Reesse and finally concluded a klutz may have a chance to pass on my lessons and introduce tennis.
What types of students have you worked with?
I am currently focusing on introducing tennis as I was a high performance coach for over a decade.
For 10 years I operated the largest private schools program in San Francisco and the largest non-profit after school tennis program which allowed me teach a wide range of students.
Through the some professional referrals, I also specialize in emotional comprised students, i.e. autism and add students.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I took a number of my students to Mexico for a simple vacation as many had fears of traveling to Mexico.
I also host Sunday dinners every 2-3 weeks for my students to meet each other in a social setting. I also have tennis events for beginners to advanced players.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Shop around, ask your tennis playing friends for recommendations, no one claims to be an incompetent tennis instructor.
Take one lesson from 2-3 instructor and make a cholce. Assess and evaluate and move on.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Be frank and honest, tell them of your aspirations and simply be truthful.
