Pierre began his violin studies at the age of 8 under the guidance of Li Lin in the Bay Area. Over the next decade, he won multiple local violin competitions such as the Senior Strings Division of the VOCE competition in 2005, and toured and performed with both the California Youth Symphony (CYS) and the San Francisco Youth Symphony Orchestra all over the world. His studies brought him to the New England Conservatory, where he earned his bachelor's in Violin Performance.
