What is your typical process for working with a new student?

Evaluate , breakdown , and rebuild . If you have been playing for a long time I try not to change to much just like to add more and give you a great workout , sometimes change is not good unless your new to the game . I like to work on technique for a bit then cardio once you have the feel .

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

i have been studying tennis for 40 years , since I was 5 years old hitting against my garage wall at home . I was a student at Nick Bollittieri Tennis Academy and played College at Santa Barbara City . I am a USPTA Elite Pro since 2004 wich is just about the best certification you can get . I am a certified stringer , and I also have a CPR certification and on court insurance.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

I usually charge $50 an hour for one on one . I am flexible though . Doubles clinics are $20 per person for hour and a half . $30 a peace for a couple for hour and a half . I can do the first one for free if your really serious about doing regular lessons .

How did you get started teaching?

I started in high school for fun and loved it . I started teaching at Nick Bollittieri tennis Academy in 1990 for free during the afternoon in trade for lessons in the morning with the countries top coaches . I began teaching full time at Nick Bollittieri Tennis Academy teaching with their adult program in 1991. I have been teaching full time ever since . Became USPTA Elite Pro in 2004 .

What types of students have you worked with?

I have worked with all types of players from beginning to professional , 3 yrs old to 92 , non English speaking students , even handicapped. It's  never been a challenge I can always adapt somehow that's what makes me good at what I do .

Describe a recent event you are fond of.

Ojai Tennis Tournament is my favorite event . Well that and the Sarasota Sea Food Festival . I love the Ojai event becouse it's the Pac Ten tennis final and 4 days of great up close and personal tennis . Seeing that tournament the first time was when I really started to love tennis .

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

Make sure they have a solid USPTA certification with insurance. I've seen so many accidents . I am insured thru the USPTA . Make sure they have college or Pro experience. A USPTA Elite Pro is the best .

What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?

What's the area that needs most improvement and what is their strength . What are your long and short term goals ?
