Holly Katherine Seeley: Dance Instructor
About
Holly Katherine Seeley graduated from The University of Texas at Austin, where she studied literature and dance. After college, Holly danced with several contemporary ballet companies in Texas, the first being the Jazz Ballet Company of Austin under Deidre Russell. Holly founded and directed Preston Hollow Dance in Dallas, Texas in 2009. She trained dancers of all ages and levels in ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop and modern dance. In the Dallas area Holly also danced and choreographed for corporately sponsored and televised performances. Holly now resides and works in Los Angeles. Holly is the owner and inventor at The Dance Angel, a business which sells her patented invention, a luggage line for dancers with a pop-up costume rack. Holly also loves to sing and is a part-time professional background vocalist. She is completing a graduate degree in dance from Texas Woman’s University. Holly continues to create, perform, and teach and is a proud member of SAG-Aftra. Her greatest joy is inspiring and encouraging others. Holly's mission is that all of her students reach their specific goals and experience the joy that comes from dance.
I love to see how dance training transforms my students' lives. Whether my student is an actor who needs to learn to move or a dancer with an upcoming audition, I love watching them gain confidence in their abilities and achieve their goals.
I believe strongly, and science supports this notion, that dance has profoundly positive effects on the mind, body, emotions, and quality of life of an individual. I love watching these positive changes in my students' lives (i.e. posture, self-esteem, stage presence, weight loss, muscle tone, relief from stress, improved sleep).

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I interview the student or the student's guardian to better understand the student's level of experience and specific goals. In the first session I will guide the student in a warm-up and teach combinations of movements to assess the student's abilities and identify areas for growth. I then set specific goals and dates for progress. I tailor my curriculum to the student and plan each lesson accordingly.

I trained from elementary school through college in numerous genres of dance under teachers from the Joffrey Ballet, Ballet Austin, New York City Ballet, and the Houston Ballet among others.
I have danced in professional productions in ballet, jazz, and hip hop. I've choreographed everything from ballet dances to flash mobs. I have choreographed and danced for televised performances as well as industrial and corporate events.

I founded and directed a dance studio in Dallas, Texas and taught students ages 2 through adults.

How did you get started teaching?
I have a gift for teaching dance. When I was yet still a student myself, at 15 years old, the director of my program asked me to become an assistant teacher. In so doing, I paid for my own numerous weekly classes and began training in what would become my lifelong passion - imparting the knowledge and joy of dance.
