About
Hi! My name is Katie and I live in Encino with my husband and my fur baby, Addie.
I graduated from Wright State University with a Bachelor in Fine Arts degree with a focus on dance in 2015. During my college years I have had the opportunity to train with the Radio City Rockettes, Dayton Ballet, and Dayton Contemporary Dance Company. Along with dance, we studdied Kinesiology, Pedigogy, Voice, Acting, and Dance History.
We moved to LA in February of 2016. Since then I have had the pleasure of performing "Oklahoma", "Funny Girl", "A Contemporary Nutcracker", and I am currently a dancer with the Satin Dollz.
I have taught at JSquare Dance Academy, Bellbrook Dance Academy, and The Richland Academy of the Arts. I have also choreographed two original works at Wright State as well as choreographing "Bye Bye Birdie" and "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers" for Clear Fork High School.
I think teaching others to dance and the importance of art is the best way to preserve it and the best way to protect it.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When working with a new student it is important to know exactly what kind of training they have had previously. With dance there are so many different techniques and ideas about teaching. Knowing their background and bodily limitations is imparitave for me as a teacher to create a lesson plan to acieve the student's goals.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance from Wright State University where I studied Kinesiology, Pedagogy, Voice, and Acting. I personally have danced since I was 3 and have trained with the Radio City Rockettes, Dayton Ballet, Dayton Contemporary Dance Company, and Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp.
My teaching resume includes JSquare Dance Academy, Bellbrook Dance Academy, and I have choreographed "Bye Bye Birdie" and "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers" for Clear Fork High School.
How did you get started teaching?
At the age of 3 I began my dance training at the Richland Academy of the Arts in Mansfield Ohio. At the age of 11 to help pay for lessons I was an assistant teacher for the creative movement classes. Since then I have had a love for sharing my passion for dance and creating moving art.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with a broad range of students. From recreational dancers to the devoted trainee, I have been able to connect with each one and help them achieve their personal goals. I am able to each young children, but prefer to teach middle school-adult.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
In February I had the pleasure of performing at the Great Los Angeles Air Raid of 1942 in San Pedro with the Satin Dollz. Tap dancing to live music at the Fort McArthur Museum is something to behold. Seeing everyone dressed in 1940's clothes made the event
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Find someone you are comfortable with. There are many triumphs in dance, but it's also hard work. Find a teacher you are comfortable sharing each victory with...the good and the bad.
