Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First I need the sides and info on the project and ask they are off book as much as possible so we can "play" more. I also need to determine how seasoned of an actor they are. If they are brand new, I'm very honest about the process and may need to coach in a different direction just so they're able to enter the room with confidence.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Besides a BS in RTVF and minor it Theatre, I have an extensive resume working behind an in front of the camera for over 27 years. I studied at countless studios around Los Angeles and still continue to upgrade my craft.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
$75/hour, $40 for half
How did you get started teaching?
I was working off my dues at a local improv theatre by offering to assist with the kids division.
What types of students have you worked with?
From China to Colorado, New York to Vancouver, I have been blessed to work with extraordinary talent and undiscovered gems. All my students are stars whether they achieve monetary success or fame on the screen or use what I teach to better their lives and careers.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Being recognized at Sundance film festival for my teaching was amazing; however, when I hear a student of mine gets an A on a creative writing assignment or a scholarship to a University.....it makes what I do just as exciting.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Do it for the love of it. Give gifts. Have 0 expectations. If yo don't, you'll get in your own way.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Know you're able to honest with me because we need to be honest about how your characters are and how you can bring all of you to the table.
