Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
If they are local, we would do a 30 minute session for assesment.
Or if, there's a specific need, such as an upcoming audition they need help with, we would focus on that.
Each case is different. We are here to help you and guide you.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
25 years as a professionally paid actor and director
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Yes, skype sessions are $50 for 50 minutes, with a 5 minute introduction opportunity.
Private sessions are $125 an hour or you can inquire about a package deal.
How did you get started teaching?
I got started by a friend from my home town, asking me to coach their son who was 17 at the time... He studied with me for several months as i began a class to better serivce his needs. As they were paying for classes, we needed a class. This turned into a need to help those who were in need of the truth.
He went on to be very successful and is coupled with a celebrity.
I found that my love for coaching was greater than I knew and so, to see students have that "Ah Ha" moment, well it's priceless.
What types of students have you worked with?
All types.. From kids 4 years old to models, super models, beginning actors, celebrities and have taught hundreds of new students their very first class.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I was coaching a seminar in NYC, when a woman came up on stage and say i nthe hot seat. I asked her to tell us a story. she told a brief story of herself being on Broadway years ago. So, I then asked her to read some copy. As she read her voice changed and she was very monotone. I stopped her and said, hold on, think of the story you just mentioned, no wait better yet, do you have kids? She said yes, a son. Okay, read the copy as if you are speaking to your son.
She began to tear up as she read.. it was captivating. She came up to me after class and said. "You're really good at what you do." It was great hearing that, but the real joy was seeing her come to life on that classroom floor that night.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
If you want the truth from someone who lives it everyday and still works, then I am the right one. If you want your ego fed and given a bunch of false accolades, I suggest you look elsewhere.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Why do you want to act?
What do you want to do with your career? Be specific.
What do you want?
Why are you acting?
Can you allow yourself to get out of your own way long enough to experience a true feeling?
Shall we begin?
