California Diving Academy
About
California Diving Academy (CDA) was established in the Summer of 2013 as a non-profit (501c3) amateur athletic club dedicated to springboard, platform, tower, and high diving (like you see in the Olympics and Red Bull Cliff Diving).
CDA welcome and train all levels...from 1st-time absolute beginners to elite athletes and Olympic hopefuls. We support myriad high school diving programs but our divers range in age from 4-104. By offering Springboard and Platform Diving ~ classes, lessons, and teams CDA is the most complete diving program in the East Bay.
CDA offers multiple pool locations and OUR EXCLUSIVE 10,000 square foot dryland diving center (indoor diving boards and trampolines with overhead spotting harnesses, myriad pits, pads, mats, and spring floors). THIS FACILITY IS ONE OF THE MOST ADVANCED AND COMPLETE dryland centers in the country.
CDA’s dryland center is configured to train serious athletes as well as fast-track any diver through the progressions of safely learning proper mechanics for dives at any level.
CDA is a member of both USA Diving and AAU Diving. The two main governing bodies in the sport of springboard and platform diving. USA Diving is a path to the USA Olympic team(s).
CDA offers a great introductory program called “Try-it-Out” (TIO) that is available year-round. The program includes FOUR (45-minute) sessions in a group setting for $100.00. Register at: http://www.caldiving.org/registration.html.
In addition, CDA is proud to say that we are beginning our 4th successful season as the official provider of springboard diving lessons/classes “Learn-to-Dive” (LTD) for the City of San Ramon.
I enjoy every aspect of what I do. Diving is an opportunity for one to challenge preconceived notions of what they can possibly accomplish. Further, diving builds self-confidence, self-reliance, and self-awareness. I love seeing the sense of accomplishment on the face of a student (any age) when we've been working on a particular dive and they do it right ~ in that moment, we both know.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
The process is to first evaluate the student's knowledge and experience, then schedule first lessons ("Try-it-Out" - TIO option) to assess current physical characteristics, skills, strength, conditioning, flexibility, and moxy. We offer the TIO year-round in all of our facilities. Beyond the TIO, we practice, train teams, and compete year-round.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Personally, I was a diver in high school and college. Prior to diving I was a tumbler, gymnast, and trampolinist. I've been coaching diving since 2013 and have made it my mission to study under myriad great Olympic coaches, Olympian, College coaches, and Club coaches. I've invested more than 1,000 hours to nothing but my own training and development as a coach.
