I am a DGA Award winning, Emmy nominated director who has been in the business for over 25 years. I have produced, written and directed both independent films as well as movies and television for the major studios including, Universal, Sony, Miramax, Disney, Nickelodeon, CBS, USA Network and Lionsgate Films. I have directed actors like Adrien Brody, Sam Rockwell, Simon Baker, Dolly Parton, Jesse Martin, Naveen Andrews, and Brooke Shields. I have been coaching actors one on one for the past ten years. My goal is to prepare you for your audition, acting job or just to keep your skills honed. I can also work with first time actors giving them the basics skills to begin their acting journeys. What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Working with a student who is looking to understand and become familiar with the independent as well as studio world of producing directing and writing. I take the student through a series of lessons which outline for them the process of producing and directing movies both in the inderpendent as well as studio worlds. I take the stuident through the ABCs of the directing process as well as studying the realtionship between the director, producer and writer. The student will have a simple and practical lesson in compostion and camera framing, angels, lenses, pre and post production and some hands on experience making a short film. As well, we explore basic tecniques of screenplay writing and explore cinema history to create a more well rounded understanding of cinema and the moving image. Depending on the level the student wants to take it to I offer more advanced classes in cinema as well.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a degree as a double major in both Film and English from Montclair Univercity as well as New York Univercity. I have been making films since a teenager and have won multiple awrds throughout the years including a prestigiuos DGA Award. I have over twenty-five years of experince producing, writing and directing independent as well as studio movies and televison and I have taught a cinema class for over five years at New York Film Academy.
