Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I think the most important thing to do right of the bat is align our expectations and goals. I am happy to want success as hard as you do, and trust me... my drive to achieve that is limitless. I need to know how much you are willing to work and what you are working towards. I want to work with people who have an end goal in mind and are determined to reach it. There are no shortcuts or quick routes to mastery... it takes time, and I'm willing to go on that journey with you, if you are willing to put in the work.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been performing my entire life. I have explored every possible avenue for peroformance and entertainment and I have over a decade of specific experience in acting, stand up comedy, improv, and theater.
In the business world, I have two degrees from a very reputable business school in the Midwest in Management Information Systems and Marketing. Ontop of that, I have five years of experince in IT at two Fortune 250 companies.
I was born in Ukraine, so I am a fluent Russian speaker, so I can teach that to anyone. I also have a strong mastery of the English language as well due to my many years as a comedy and creative writer.
How did you get started teaching?
Because I consider myself a student of my craft, I have a very strong relationship with teaching. I began teaching when I graduated from high school and had so much success in high school public speaking and forensics that I could not step away from it, so I came back right away and began coaching kids to have the same success as I did, with everything I had learned.
Since then, I have continued to teach whenever I have the opporunity, especially through personal and private acting coaching for all of my friends before their big auditions.
What types of students have you worked with?
I only work with students who are serious in becoming a true artist in their craft. I am not a person that understands or deals in trend following, only trend setting. I think in order to be truly successful at something, one most strive to be a thought leader in it. To know it so well, that you begin to synthesize new ideas from the wealth of knowledge you have learned. I work with students who pursue their passion wholeheartedly, and without looking back. Every lesson is exciting, and every chance to execute is a chance to learn.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I would say, make sure that this person is someone you can trust. When sharing your art, you are in a very vulnerable position where something you have created is now being judged by someone else... that can be a very personal relationship, and the person that you work with in such a capacity has to be a trustworthy individual who will never lie to you, in order to placate some sort of security. You need hard and constructive truth to get better, and a person who will revel in your accomplishments with you ONLY when you truly deserve it!
