New Collective LA
About
I am the co-founder and head Acting Coach at New Collective LA, a successful acting studio in Los Angeles that has been operating for the past 8 years. I studied under the renowned acting coach Susan Batson and taught for her acting studio for close to 15 years before opening New Collective LA in 2009. I work with actors at all levels and in all areas of the art form (theater, film & television). I teach group classes all week at my acting studio and am available via Skype to help any level of actor reach their artistic goals, improve their audition skills, prepare for a role or a big audition, or help actors gain a deeper understanding of the work and how to apply it to specific challenges in the industry.

I've been passionate about acting my whole life, and I love to help others find their unique gifts and apply that to their creativity. I believe that acting is an art form about sharing with others what it means to be human - I believe that acting is healing, and I believe that acting is an art that makes the world a better place.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I find out a little bit about your background with the work, so that I can start from where you're at and build upon the tools that you already have. Even if you're a beginner, I can give you practical tools that you can understand and it's always my top priority to make you feel safe and comforatble.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
25 years experience in NY and LA as a professional actor, 15 years as an instructor under acting coach Susan Batson, 8 years teaching at New Collective LA.
How did you get started teaching?
I was first encouraged by my acting teacher, Susan Batson, who told me that she felt I had an ability. After assisting her with a few group classes and privates, I found that I really enjoyed sharing the work with others and also felt it was a great privilege.
What types of students have you worked with?
All actors at all levels, including professional working actors as well as many luminary actors privately and on the set.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
There is not only one way to do something. There are different approaches, and everyone has to find the way that works best for them. You should find a teacher that you click with, feel inspired and challenged by.
