About

One of the advantages of being an actor who has produced and cast my own film and commercial projects is that I have learned a lot about life on "the other side of the table." I seek to share that experience with my students. The goal of this class is to help you hone your acting and audition skills such that when you leave an audition, you can say, "I did what I wanted to do!"

Too often, as actors, our nerves get in the way of our talent. My class also addresses this basic obstacle. Taking its cue from the teachings of my mentor, long-time acting coach David LeGrant, On-Camera Acting helps you learn to make the interesting choices that will set you apart from everybody else in the room. I focus on your individuality and help you find yourself in whatever role you are attempting.

Our class format is simple. In keeping with the way the audition process works, I will email you hand-picked sides before class. When you arrive to class, you will be placed "on set." I shoot a total of five takes. We do two takes and then take an objective look at the choices you made on your own. We will then arrive at some adjustments for the remaining three takes. You will be a participant in making your own adjustments, with coaching from me as "The Director." You will begin to see changes right away, guaranteed! I intentionally keep the class small, so you will receive a lot of individual attention.

When I see an actor really begin to indulge themselves as an individual artist, it lights me up. Most of my work is teaching my students how "not to act" and really be in the moment in a scene.

I think what makes for a great acting studio is a combination the quality of teaching and the physical space itself. Studio for Acting is a a 5-star experience in both regards. Edward is not only a very talented actor in his own right (with a constantly evolving resume to prove it), but he is such a caring and effective teacher. Teaching is a skill that not many talented people are good at, but learning from Edward is like taking a master class every time! I always feel like a better actor when I work with Edward.

I work as an acting coach. I also teach semi-private on camera acting classes. I run my class like the audition experience. I send out sides in advance for students to prepare for class
Having worked as an actor and owned a production company, and cast my own projects. I have firsthand experience with what it takes to secure a job.

Having studied with legendary acting coach David LeGrant for over a decade, I began to take on after school programs with high school students. I moved into adult classes after Mr LeGrant retired and the class asked me to take over. I was reluctant at first, but began to find my own voice as an acting teacher and coach. I truly get inspired by watching my actors have artistic breakthroughs in class.
I've worked with students at all levels, from beginning actors to series regulars. I have a unique gift for identifying acting problems for individuals looking to improve their skills.
Find a coach that is going to put professional demands on you. It's great to find a class and study technique, but make sure you do your research.
Why do I want to be an actor ? Am I willing to challenge myself artistically? What am I afraid of in pursuing this work?
