About
"It is the supreme art of the teacher to awaken joy in creative expression and knowledge." -- Albert Einstein
Here's one testimonial from a current student: “Once upon a time I would have said I was a dancer. Or a writer. Or a poet. But after almost 20 years in the corporate tech world, opportunities to express myself dried up and my creativity had atrophied. Suzanne, sensing there was a void in my life and a light in my eyes that had dimmed, urged me to try a coaching session. Despite my demon voices telling me I was being silly, I did. And it changed my life. Having Suzanne come into my orbit was the creative and spiritual re-awakening I so desperately needed. And she's also encouraged and empowered me to tap into forms of creative expression I didn't even know I had or was capable of. I tried acting for the first time and I love it! Who knew?! Suzanne's energy is boundless, her passion is infectious. Her knowledge and expertise is vast and deep. Suzanne is your loudest cheerleader and most loyal fan. She's encouraging, supportive, and empowers you to stretch and grow and learn. I leave every session feeling invigorated and with a renewed sense of self. I am a writer. I am a poet. I am a dancer. I am an actor. And I am eternally grateful. Thank you, Suzanne.”

I believe that teaching and coaching artists is one of the reasons I was put on the planet. I think of myself as a midwife for each student to help them give birth to their creative expression. They bring in the embers of an idea, and I fan the flames to turn it into a brilliant fire that shines brightly and warms everyone around them. I do this by creating an atmosphere of acceptance -- no judgement or negative criticism. My favorite Rumi quote is: "Out beyond all ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing, there is a field. I'll meet you there." Coaching with me is like entering the field of all possibilities. There is no right or wrong -- there is only the encouragement of the expression of your authentic self, and the joy of that journey.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Each student is different, so I meet them wherever they are in their journey. First I get to know about their background and experience, I ask a lot of questions, and I use my intuition, intelligence and experience to tailor a path that will help them achieve their goals.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
30 years of experience in the entertainment industry as a television host, actor, award-winning stand-up comedian, published author, live event emcee, teacher, coach, activist, and professional keynote speaker. B.A. in Psychology from Yale University, and a Master's Degree in Cognitive Psychology from Brown University. Studied metaphysics for many years, and have an uncanny ability to help people transform into their highest selves.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My rate is $75/hour. I can work with you in person, or via Skype or FaceTime.
How did you get started teaching?
I had been encouraged to teach for many years, but finally began after stage 4 breast cancer left me in massive debt. I completely reversed the disease and am miraculously cancer-free, and am deeply grateful to wake up alive every day. I started teaching to supplement my entertainment industry income and get out of medical debt, and completely fell in love with it. Teaching is one of the things I am destined to do. It brings me great joy, and it is so rewarding to bear witness to my students soaring.
What types of students have you worked with?
Everyone from novices to seasoned professionals. Actors, writers, comedians, television hosts, public speakers, singers, dancers, musicians, realtors, professors, attorneys, doctors. Anyone who performs or communicates in front of groups of people and wants to do it at a higher level. I help my students find their unique voice in whatever career they choose.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I just taught a Storytelling Workshop to a group of military veterans, and it was incredibly rewarding and powerful. Maya Angelou said, "There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside of you." And I've learned that we are only as sick as our secrets. So I encourage my students to tell their stories in the most honest, brave, authentic way possible, embracing everything from the tragic to the hilarious. It is ultimate healing and cathartic for the storyteller, and it is fascinating and inspiring for the listener.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Do your homework about each teacher, trust your gut instinct about which teacher is a good match for you, and then try one class or session with that teacher.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What is your intention with taking these classes or lessons? What are your strengths and weaknesses? What are your short-term and long-term goals? How often do you want to study? Do you want to be given assignments and exercises to do in between classes or lessons? Do you prefer in-person sessions, Skype/FaceTime sessions, telephone sessions, or some combination of those options? Are you starting a new dream, resurrecting a previous dream, or lighting a fire under a career that has flatlined?
