About

Students work in a fully equipped 4K two-camera video studio, taking scenes through a cycle of cold reading, rehearsing, recording, playback and critique, to determine what works and what doesn't work in terms of their performances. All our work is based on Tony Barr's highly acclaimed book ACTING FOR THE CAMERA. Students also receive free coaching for all their auditions.

Eric Stephan Kline has been teaching at the Workshop for over 20 years. For 14 years he was also a Visiting Lecturer in Dramatic Art at U.C. Irvine. He wrote the exercise section for ACTING FOR THE CAMERA, and has coached actors for hundreds of auditions and appearances in feature films and television. For more information see our website, Filmactorsworkshop.com or our Facebook Fan Page, Tony Barr's Film Actors Workshop.

I began by conducting the studio classes at Tony Barr's Film Actors Workshop, taping scenes for the other acting teachers in a 3-camera video studio. Eventually I learned so much about acting that Tony suggested I become a teacher.

Everything from beginners to Oscar winners.

Concerts on the pier in Santa Monica last summer. Fantastic!

Find somone who respects you and treats you like an equal. Stay away from gurus and authoritarians. They won't teach you anything and they'll make your life miserable. Take Pink Floyd's advice from their song, "The Wall":

We don't need no education/ We don't need no thought contol/No dark sarcasm in the classroom/Teacher leave those kids alone/All and all/You're just another brick in the Wall....

What is it a want to study?

What's my passion?
