About
MASTERING THE SELF-TAPE
and IN-PERSON CAMERA AUDITION
I'm an accomplished film and television actor and during my 8 years of experience in LA, the audition process has evolved. I've had literally hundreds and hundreds of auditions, both self-tape and in-person, and I draw from those experiences when coaching new students. I speak from both the casting director's and the actor's points of view and address the obstacles that are in the way of your natural talent shining through in the few minutes you have during an audition taping.
Within the last year, I appeared on CBS's FBI: MOST WANTED, FOX's 9-1-1, and Netflix's WHAT/IF as guest stars and recurring roles. I've acted as the lead in several independent films (including films playing at Sundance and Tribeca), starred in two pilots (one for Amazon and one for HBO), and was a series lead in the fourth season of Netflix's THE KILLING.
I've taught privately for a few years now, starting out when a few of my actor friends asked me for some coaching and building a business from there.
I've had students literally book their first audition after working with me. I use a light and camera setup to tape mock auditions, and focus on everything from entering the room to cold reading to connecting with the casting associates, and even specialize in how to approach scripted material. Much of the work is in providing a a space for the actor to practice the scene in an "audition setting" and giving them a chance to watch what worked or didnt work. This, combined with the notes given by an experienced outside perspective, makes for an incredibly valuable learning experience.

I love watching a student discover something - something they didn't know they were capabale of, or something they never thought of in a certain way - and how instantly empowering and comforting that can be for the student. That "AH HA!" moment. It is my aim to provide at least one, if not many, of these moments each time I do a coaching session.
I also particularly enjoy contibuting to a "safe space" in my lessons where the student is not afraid of failure, and can experience the rewards of risk-taking.
