I am very passionate about my teaching and have taught all ages and levels for over 18 years. I have many references that I am happy to give you if you'd like. I am currently writing two books on advanced jazz drumming. The first is a book on the drumming of master drummer Eric Harland and the second is a book on jazz solo vocabulary. I have studied with many of the great drummers of our time including John Riley, Eric Harland, Gregory Hutchinson, Damion Reid, Joe LaBarbera, and Bob Gullotti, among others. I have a Masters in Jazz Performance from The California Institute of the Arts. Study with me and you will go FAR:)
Alex total teaching package is superb. The pace of each lesson is NOT based upon turn the page and do the next lesson. He introduces new musical concepts that relate and compliment preceding lessons. In other words, nothing is left behind. Everything builds on prior learning. Alex is also a kind and caring person. Always genuinely concerned about my progress. He is a professional! Not only teaching, he is a working drummer who plays with highy acclaimed musicians. I look forward to each lesson.
Alex is an amazing teacher. He is passionate, clear and patient, always with a very positive attitude. I was a little shy to commit to weekly lessons at first, due to my work schedule, but looking back this is one of the best decision I made for my drumming. Weekly sessions keeps me engaged, and my practice has seen a serious boost from it. Alex is also very invested in my progress, and making sure I am moving forward in my drumming. I highly recommend him as a drum teacher!
Alex has a contagious positive demeanor. Always has something uplifting to say during a lesson. Also, true music enthusiast. I am 64 years old, taken lessons from well known teachers, and have never been so satisfied on so many levels. A gentleman in all respects.
Alex has a gift for picking out a player's weak points, and gives not only solid, helpful, time-honored information to strengthen them, but also the encouragement and support to achieve to real goals.
