I have a great passion for teaching and teach all levels and styles. I released a book this year called “The Mastery of Eric Harland” (a modern drum legend who’s been featured on Drumeo many times) and it was nominated by Modern Drummer to be Best Educational Product of 2025.
One of my 13 year old students was nominated for The California All State Jazz Band and one of my prized longtime students was the only drummer accepted at the prestigious Manhattan School of Music in 2021. I taught him since he was 3 years old through 18 so I am certain I can help you reach your goals🥁🥋
I have a Masters in Jazz Drum Set Performance from The California Institute of the Arts but teach and play all styles.
I’ve taught online to students all over the country for 20+ years and have great success with it even while remote.

I met Alex at a concert of his about 4 years ago and have been studying with him ever since (the last 3 years have been remote learning on FaceTime and I can’t recommend it highly enough!) He is one of the greatest teachers in any subject I have ever taken (I am 26 years old at the time of writing this). He is extraordinarily knowledgeable, kind, patient, and clearly passionate about getting results and making certain I am improving every week.
It is rare to find a teacher with his level of expertise that not only teaches advanced students but also takes on beginners, and I was definitely the latter when we first met!
I have gone from having zero knowledge in music and drumming to confidently playing in a few bands and sitting in at professional jam sessions in only 4 years!!! Studying with him has been hands down one of the best decisions of my life!!!!

As a drummer with over 20 years of experience, playing professionally, teaching, and with a degree in jazz drum set. It has been an absolute pleasure working with Alex for the past 8 months. For the longest time I had the desire to find an amazing teacher to give me direction with my practice and playing. I found him through his Eric Harland book knowing that someone who has gone through the painstaking process of transcribing Harland had an intense dedication to high level music and sharing that knowledge with others. Alex’s curriculum and knowledge of jazz and practical musical language has had a noticeable impact on my playing. Many musicians I work with have even noticed positive impacts in my feel, creativity, and soloing. Alex total teaching package is superb. The pace of each lesson is NOT based upon turn the page and do the next lesson. He introduces new musical concepts that relate and compliment preceding lessons. In other words, nothing is left behind. Everything builds on prior learning. Alex is also a kind and caring person. Always genuinely concerned about my progress. He is a professional! Not only teaching, he is a working drummer who plays with highy acclaimed musicians. I look forward to each lesson.

Alex is an amazing teacher. He is passionate, clear and patient, always with a very positive attitude. I was a little shy to commit to weekly lessons at first, due to my work schedule, but looking back this is one of the best decision I made for my drumming. Weekly sessions keeps me engaged, and my practice has seen a serious boost from it. Alex is also very invested in my progress, and making sure I am moving forward in my drumming. I highly recommend him as a drum teacher!
