Steve Neal Music Lessons
About
Since earning my M.A. in Percussion Performance to supplement my B.A. in Music Education, I have taught music at the middle school, high school, and college levels. My roles have included Band Director at Jackson Local Schools in Massillon (OH), Band & Orchestra Director at Vista Charter Middle School in Los Angeles (CA), and most recently Band Director at Eliot Arts Magnet School in Pasadena (CA). These positions involved both group instruction and one-on-one lessons.
In Los Angeles I specialized in teaching private lessons beginner to intermediate piano and beginner to advanced percussion, catering to a wide variety of students. My experience at these varied age levels has allowed me to provide unique insight into assessing a student's skill set and creating plans to meet specific goals regardless of the student's age or skills.
Teaching private lessons combines my two favorite aspects of music: teaching and performing at a high level. I find great fulfillment in creating a supportive environment for students while continuing to develop my personal skillset to provide a model for students to emulate.
