About
The Curtain Playhouse was founded in 2005 with a mission of bringing quality theatre education to the Denver area. In the winter of 2017, we celebrated our 125th production. It is our mission to develop in our students confidence in their own sense of creativity, and an understanding of the creation of live performance.
We are committed to teaching strong theatre skills and hold our students to high standards of character including respect, responsibility, acceptance and integrity.

It is evident that Simon is very knowledgeable in the field of vocal performance. Hew teaches his students not only about vocal technique but music theory and sight singing music as well. As a student preparing for college auditions, he has been enormously helpful through the whole process, and through him my belt has developed enormously, and I truly feel he prepares me for everything coming my way the field of vocal performance. He is kind and patient with his students and really wants to see them succeed.

My nephew appeared in a youth production here. Although not what I expected, this production and the Playhouse thoroughly exceeded my expectations. I am so happy I was able to experience this, and I absolutely cannot wait to see more. If youre unsure, take the plunge and be transported.

My daughter loves her teacher, Mr Simon. She takes voice and piano at The Curtain Playhouse and has really soared with his great teaching style and new challenges at each lesson. We have seen a huge growth in musicianship and range.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We have 5 different teachers on staff, and they all have different methods. Each of them was carefully chosen and they all enjoy teaching a variety of ages. We match the student to the teacher based on what they want to learn most & the type of lesson (virtual or in-person)
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Again, all the teachers are different, but they all have degrees in music and/or theatre and some have advanced degrees.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Our lessons begin at $25/half hour lessons.
How did you get started teaching?
They will each have their own stories- be sure to ask at your first lesson!
What types of students have you worked with?
All ages, but mostly under 18. Many are referred to us through The Curtain Playhouse, so there is a lot of musical theatre and pop.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Look for a solid teaching background and someone who is FUN!
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Just be prepared to talk about the styles of music you are interested in and any background experience.
