I have been playing tennis for around 35 years. I started playing in high school and though I didn't have alot of formal training early on I have picked up the game pretty well. I work with all ages of players from 4 to 74 and everything in between. I coach high school players in the Spring, Summer and Fall and teach beginner and intermediate drills during the week mostly to adults along with teaching adult classes. I enjoy the game and love sharing that with others. I also play and participate in several leagues throughout the season. I have USPTR certification as a Teaching Pro Instructor to 11-17 year old as well as Adults....

Zhen L. says, "To get better at my game. have to play more. But you also have to train your body to do tennis and learn. There's so much to Tennis, it's a lot of hard work. Research what kind of strings would be best for you. At what tension? What kind of racquet you like best and why? I study and research and practice when I can but I don't have the time to practice as much as I need to. But I make the best of the time I do have. if you wanna be better you'll have to put in the work, time and effort. I'm a pretty good athlete and am good at a few different sports but Tennis is the hardest sport I've ever played. Requires a lot. Most of all, I play for the love of the game." Read more

Whether you're new to tennis or a seasoned pro, taking tennis lessons can be fun and educational. Almost anyone can improve their game by taking tennis lessons. Find an instructor through lessons.com, and you may master a skill that you will continue to enjoy for the rest of your life. Many people who take tennis up as a hobby believe that playing tennis involves innate skills that you either have or don't have. Nothing could be further from the truth! Tennis skills can improve with time, practice and professional lessons, just like other forms of exercise.

Beginners sometimes get frustrated and give up because they are not yet proficient at skills like serving and returning serves. They also may not be aware of the type of skills they need to succeed. Different strokes, different levels of strength and a variety of techniques must be mastered to enjoy playing the game.More experienced players may also benefit from lessons, even if they've already mastered the basics. Learning advanced techniques can help score points and improve enjoyment of the game. These players can benefit from one-on-one instruction that allows them to concentrate on their unique strengths and weaknesses and improve their skills.

There are three different types of tennis lessons you can consider:

  • Group lessons are great for beginners. Novice players can benefit from taking lessons together. Students often take turns practicing skills and can learn from one another, as well as from the instructor. Learning in a group also helps students become familiar with game play, rules, scoring and techniques.
  • One-on-one lessons are helpful for more advanced students. Once students master the basics, they may want to take private lessons, in addition to attending advanced group classes. One-on-one lessons are the best way to strengthen skills, as they allow students to set and achieve personal goals.
  • Specialized lessons are great for kids and people with special needs. It takes a special instructor to develop rapport with children or with adults who have special needs. These instructors adapt lessons appropriately for groups or individuals with particular needs.

Lessons.com is the best place to find individual and group tennis instructors. Instructors sign up and create a profile, while students search for instructors by zip code, then email teachers of their interest through our site and pay up front for their lessons.

Reviews for Arvada tennis lessons

We first met Emma in 2016 and we love her. We quickly realised that she needed to become part of the integrated tennis coaching program for our daughter Abbey. Her extensive knowledge of tennis technique was immediately apparent however we were drawn to how she communicated with Abbey, in a way that grows results. Emma guides, inspires and empowers the player to realise and develop their full potential. She is a motivator with a positive attitude and boundless enthusiasm for the game and the player. Her practice sessions are fun, fresh and challenging whilst supporting performance goals. However, its not just the on-court element that we have been impressed with but the off-court component. Emma takes time understand the player, their drive, motivations and goals. Working with their mindset she individualises their learning plan incorporate the player’s emotions, strengths and learning opportunities. She will seek out input from the player and adjust the plan accordingly. Her capacity to engage the whole person is key to her and the players. Emma has a unique set of talents and skills that makes her an outstanding coach, one we are happy to recommend as great coaches like Emma are hard to find.
